Comparing lensing and stellar orbital models of a nearby massive strong-lens galaxy

چکیده
Exploiting the relative proximity of nearby strong-lens galaxy SNL-1, we present a critical comparison mass estimates derived from independent modelling techniques. We fit triaxial orbit-superposition dynamical models to spatially-resolved stellar kinematics, and compare constraints lens high-resolution photometry. From model, measure total (dynamical) enclosed within projected aperture radius Einstein be $\log_{10} M_{\mathrm{Ein.}} = 11.00 \pm 0.02$, which agrees with previous measurements $5\%$. then explore intrinsic (de-projected) properties best-fitting model. find that SNL-1 has approximately-constant, intermediate triaxiality at all radii. It is oblate-like in inner regions (around radius) tends towards spherical larger The velocity ellipsoid gradually transforms isotropic very central radially-biased outskirts. dynamically consistent broader population, as measured by fraction orbit `temperatures' compared CALIFA survey. On mass--size plane, occupies most-compact edge given its mass, both MaNGA SAMI surveys. Finally, how observed lensing configuration affected orientation galaxy. discuss implications such detailed on future combined analyses.

The Massive Stellar Population in a Nearby Massive Low Surface Brightness Galaxy
We have observed the closest known large, low surface brightness (LSB) galaxy, UGC 2302, with HST using WFPC2 and the F555W and F814W filters. UGC 2302 is a typical large LSB galaxy, and thus represents a good choice for detailed stellar population studies. Large LSBs represent an extreme star formation environment, both locally within their disks, and on a larger scale, often residing in under...
متن کاملLensing Probabilities for Spectroscopically Selected Galaxy-galaxy Strong Lenses
Spectroscopic galaxy-galaxy lens searches are presently the most prolific method of identifying strong lens systems in large data sets. We study the probabilities associated with these lens searches, namely the probability of identifying a candidate with rogue [O II] emission lines in a galaxy’s spectrum, and the probability that the candidate will show features of strong lensing in follow-up p...

A simultaneous maximum likelihood approach for galaxy-galaxy lensing and cluster lens reconstruction
In a previous paper we investigated means for constraining the mass distribution of cluster galaxies by weak lensing. We concluded that a comprehensive method should treat the lensing effects of individual cluster galaxies and those resulting from a general cluster component simultaneously. To this end we now develop a non-parametric maximum likelihood cluster reconstruction algorithm that can ...
متن کاملStrong and Weak Lensing Constraints on Galaxy Mass Distribution
Gravitational Lensing is a unique tool to constrain the mass distribution of collapsed structures, this is particularly true for galaxies, either on a case by case basis using multiple images of background sources (such as quasars), or statistically using the so called galaxy-galaxy lensing technique. First, I will present the lensing theory, and then discuss the various methods applied to curr...
